Hamilton Road BIA – Updating a Community Website
I was contracted by Hamilton Road BIA to revamp and modernize their existing website, which serves over 100 local businesses and residents in the community. My role was to implement updates to improve usability, accessibility, and performance while ensuring the site remained easy for staff to manage long-term.

Challenge
The Hamilton Road BIA site needed work across the board, outdated visuals, unclear navigation, and accessibility gaps on desktop. But mobile was the biggest problem. Text was cramming and cutting off, pages felt disorganized, and the experience was completely unoptimized for how most community visitors were actually browsing. Everything had to be fixed within the existing WordPress setup while keeping it manageable for non-technical staff long-term.

Impact
Improved mobile usability and accessibility for community visitors.
Delivered a more cohesive brand presence for 100+ local businesses.
Empowered staff to manage and update content independently.
Solution
I redesigned every page of the site, modernizing visuals, restructuring navigation, and closing accessibility gaps with font updates and alt text throughout. Mobile was the priority lens for every decision: fixing text breaks, cleaning up cramped layouts, and making sure nothing cut off on smaller screens. Every change stayed within WordPress so staff could keep managing content without touching code.
Reflections
This project strengthened my ability to modernize existing systems without a full rebuild. It reinforced the importance of designing within technical and budgetary constraints while still delivering meaningful improvements to user experience.
